Batata Vada & Lasoon Chutney

Batata Vada is a popular Indian vegetarian fast food in Maharashtra, India. It consists of a mashed potato coated with chickpea flour, then deep-fried and serve hot with lagoon chutney.

Ingredients:
For Batter:
2 Tablespoons Chickpeas Flour (Besan)
1 Teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
3/4 Teaspoon Chili Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
A Pinch Baking Soda
For Potato Masala:
1 Kg Potatoes
2 Tablespoons Oil
1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
6 Chopped Green Chilies
Few Chopped Curry Leaves
1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
1 Teaspoon Salt
Chopped Coriander Leaves
For Lasoon Chutney:
10 Garlic Cloves
2 Tablespoons Peanuts
2 Tablespoons Sesame Seeds
3 Tablespoon Coconut
1 Teaspoon Chili Powder
3/4 Teaspoon Salt
Method:
In a bowl, take 3 tablespoons chickpeas flour (Besan), add 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste, 3/4 teaspoon chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, a pinch of baking soda and make a smooth batter by adding little water & keep it aside.
Take 1 Kg of boiled potatoes and mash it.
In a pan, heat 2 tablespoons oil, 1 teaspoon mustard seeds, add 6 chopped green chilies, few chopped curry leaves, add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, and mix well.
Add mashed potatoes & mix well.
Add 1 teaspoon salt, add chopped coriander leaves, mix well & keep it aside to cool.
Make balls.
Dip the potato ball in chickpeas batter & deep fry them.
For Lasoon Chutney
Dry roast 10 garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons peanuts, 2 tablespoons sesame seeds, 3 tablespoon coconut.
Roast them and put them in the grinder. Add 1 teaspoon chili powder, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and make a coarse powder.
