Chamakura Pappu (Colocasia Leave Dal) – an easy and delicious. This pappu recipe has moong dal cooked with Arbi leaves and mango. It is a hearty and flavorful dish that can be served with chapathis or rice.

Ingredients:

  • 7 -8 Chamakura Leaves

  • 1/2 Cup Raw Mango

  • 1 Cup Moong Dal

  • 1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder

  • 1 Teaspoon Oil

  • 2 Teaspoons Green Chili Paste

  • 1 Teaspoon Salt

  • 1/2 Chopped Onion


Seasoning Dal:

  • 1 Tablespoon Oil

  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds

  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds

  • Few Dry Red Chillies

  • Few Curry Leaves

Method:

  1. Dry roast 1 cup moong dal, fry until nice aromatic smell.

  2. Boil water in a cooking bowl, add roasted dal, 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon oil, close the lid & cook until 50 % done.

  3. Add chopped leaves, add 2 teaspoons green chili paste, add half cup raw chopped mango and mix well.

  4. Add 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 chopped onion & mix well, close the lid & cook until dal is well done.

  5. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a cooking bowl, 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1 teaspoon mustard seeds, few dry red chilies, few curry leaves.

  6. Add the seasoning to the dal.
