Gongura (Red Sorrel) Chutney

Gongura Chutney is a very popular & authentic dish in Andhra & Telangana Cuisine. Its made of fresh Gongura leaves and spices, sour are the main aspects of the dish. Serve with white rice.

Ingredients:
1 Big Bowl Gongura
1 Cup Green Chilies
1/4 Cup Garlic Cloves
2 Tablespoons Soaked Methi Seeds
2 Tablespoons Jeera Seeds
2 Teaspoons Salt
1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
1 Cup Oil
Method:
Heat 1 cup of oil in a pot, add 1 cup green chilies and close the lid until chilies are well done.
Add 3/4 of gongura, add jeera seeds, 2 tablespoons soaked methi seeds, 2 tablespoons Jeera Seeds, 1/4 Cup garlic cloves, 2 teaspoons salt, 1 teaspoon turmeric powder and add the rest of the gongura, close the lid & cook for 5 minutes.
Stir well without using a spoon.
Add turmeric powder & mix well, close the lid & cook for 5 more minutes.
Turn off the stove. Once the mixture is cold, take out all the green chilies.
Put them in grinder & add salt, make a smooth paste.
Mix the gongura mixture nicely.
Add green chili paste and mix it well.
