Restaurant Styles Dal Makhani

Dal Makhani is a classic Indian dish made with whole urad dal, rajma, butter and spices. It is one of the most popular lentil dishes originated in the Punjab region of India.

Ingredients:


For Boiling Dal:

1 Cup Whole Urad Dal

1/4 Cup Rajma

1/4 Cup Chana Dal

1 Tablespoon Butter

3 Cup Water

2 Garlic Cloves

2 Green Chilies


For Masala:

1 Teaspoon Butter

1 Onion

1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder

2 Teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste

2 Tomatoes

2 Teaspoons Chili Powder

2 Teaspoons Coriander Powder

2 Teaspoons Jeera Powder

1 Teaspoon Fennel powder

1 Teaspoon Salt

1 Teaspoon Kasuri Methi

2 Tablespoon Cream


For Seasoning:

3 Tablespoons Butter

1 Tablespoon Chopped Garlic

Method:

  1. Take 1 cup whole urad dal, 1/4 cup rajma, ¼ cup chana dal, 4 cups water & soak it overnight.

  2. In a pressure cooker, add 1 teaspoon butter, soaked dals, add 3 cups water, 2 garlic cloves, 2 green chilies and pressure cook up to 5 whistles.

  3. Mashed the cooked dal & keep it aside.

  4. Add 1 teaspoon butter, add 1 chopped onion, sauté onions until slightly brown.

  5. Add 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, 2 teaspoons ginger garlic paste, add 2 chopped tomatoes, 2 teaspoon red chili powder, coriander powder, Jeera powder, fennel powder, 1 teaspoon salt & sauté it well.

  6. Once the oil separates, add the dal and cover the lid and cook for 10 minutes.

  7. Add 1 cup water (adjust the consistency).

  8. Add 1 teaspoon Kasuri methi, 2 tablespoon cream, mix well and turn off the stove.

  9. Take the dal into a bowl.

  10. In steel rounded scoop, add 1 teaspoon butter, add chopped garlic, and sauté it, 2 green chilies.

  11. Add the thadka in the bowl.
