Poriyal is a famous South Indian recipe made using green beans, urad dal, and curry leaves. It is healthy yet tasty and can be served with both roti and rice.
- 1/2 Kg Green Beans
- 1 Tablespoon Oil
- 1/2 Teaspoon Jeera
- 1/2 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
- 1 Teaspoon Urad Dal
- 1 Teaspoon Chana Dal
- Dry Red Chilies
- Few Curry Leaves
- 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 Cup Freshly Grated Coconut
- Chopped Coriander leaves
Heat 1 tablespoon oil and add 1/2 teaspoon jeera, 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds, 1 teaspoon urad dal, 1 teaspoon chana dal, few dry red chilies, few curry leaves. Mix well.
Add 1/2 kg cut green beans and mix well. Close the lid and cook for 2 minutes.
Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon chili powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and mix well.
Close the lid and cook until the beans are well done.
Add 1/4 cup freshly grated coconut and mix well.
Add chopped coriander leaves and turn off the stove.
Serve as a side dish with sambar or rasam.
