Bharwa Mirchi is a simple, quick, and easy side dish of pan-fried green chilies stuffed with chickpeas flour and spices. Typically we serve green chili fry with a simple meal like Dal-rice, Sambar-rice, Khichdi.


  • 6 Long Chilies
  • 4 Tablespoons Oil
  • 1/2 Cup Chickpeas Flour (Besan)
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Jeera Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Amchur Powder


Step 1

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil and add 1/2 cup chickpeas flour—Fry the flour for 3 minutes on medium flame.

Step 2

Add 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon red chili powder, 1/2 teaspoons salt, 1/4 teaspoon jeera powder, 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder, 1/2 teaspoon amchur powder, and mix well.

Step 3

Turn off the stove and keep the mixture aside.

Step 4

Slit the chilies and take out the seeds from the chilies.

Step 5

Stuff the chilies with chickpeas flour and keep them aside.

Step 6

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan and add stuffed chilies. Close the lid and cook for 3 minutes.

Step 7

Slowly turn the chilies to the other side and cook for 3 more minutes.

Step 8

Turn the chilies again and add extra chickpeas flour. Cook for 2 minutes and turn off the stove.

Step 9

Take the chilies to the serving plate and serve with dal.
