Fish Biryani is a flavorful mix of rice, spices and fish. Do try this simple and easy to make this authentic recipe. Serve hot with raita.
Ingredients (For Fish Marination)
- 500 Grams Fish
- 2 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
- 2 Teaspoons Coriander Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 2 Teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
Ingredients (For Gravy)
- 2 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
- 1 Onion
- 2 Green Chilies
- 2 Tomatoes
- 1 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Teaspoon Coriander Powder
- 1/2 Cup Fresh Coconut
- 2 Kashmiri Red Chilies
- 10 Cashews
- 1/2 Cup Coconut Milk
- 2 Teaspoon Sour Cream
Ingredients (For Rice)
- 2 1/2 Cups Rice
- 6 Cups Water
- 2 Tablespoons Ghee
- 1 Teaspoon Shah Jeera
- 4 Cloves
- 4 Cardamom
- 2 Bay Leaves
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Teaspoon Coriander Powder
- 3 Tablespoons Saffron Milk
- Coriander Leaves
- Mint Leaves
- Fried Onions
- Butter
Method
Step 1
Take 500 grams Fish in a bowl, 2 teaspoons red chili powder, 2 teaspoons coriander powder, 1 teaspoon Salt, 2 teaspoons ginger garlic paste and mix well, marinate for 1 hour.
Step 2
Shallow fry the marinated fish and keep all the fried fish aside.
Step 3
Heat 2 tablespoon coconut oil, add 1 big chopped onion. Once the onions are slightly brown, add 2 green chilies, 2 tomatoes, and cook until the tomatoes are soft.
Step 4
Add 1 teaspoon red chili powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon coriander powder. Cover the lid and cook for 2 minutes.
Step 5
In a jar, add 1/2 cup fresh coconut, 2 Kashmiri red chilies, 10 cashews, 1/2 cup coconut milk, and grind it coarsely.
Step 6
Once the tomatoes are cooked, add the ground paste in it & mix well. Add 2 teaspoon Sour Cream (optional) and mix well.
Step 7
Once the oil separates, pour half of the gravy on the fried fish and leave it for 1 minute.
Step 8
Soak 2 1/2 cups of basmati rice for 30 minutes.
Step 9
In a pan, boil 6 cups water, 2 tablespoons ghee, 1 teaspoon Shah Jeera, 4 cloves, 4 cardamoms, 2 bay leaves, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon coriander powder, and bring it to a boil.
Step 10
Add 2 & 1/2 cups Basmati Rice and cook the rice until it's 70% done.
Step 11
Now add little rice in the remaining gravy and mix well. Now add one more layer of rice.
Step 12
Now add the fried fish coated with gravy and cover it with the final layer of rice.
Step 13
On the top of the rice, add 3 tablespoons of saffron milk, coriander leaves, mint leaves, fried onions, and butter.
Step 14
Cover it with the foil and close the lid tightly & cook for 15 minutes on medium heat.
Step 15
Open the lid and mix slightly. Serve hot with raita.
