Dondakaya (Tindora) Chutney Recipe is a very popular chutney recipe prepared from roasted tindora. It is also known as Dondakaya Pachadi. It tastes great with plain rice topped with ghee.
Ingredients (For Chutney)
- 1 Tablespoon Chana Dal
- 1 Tablespoon Urad Dal
- 1 Teaspoon Coriander Seeds
- 1/2 Teaspoon Jeera
- 1/4 Teaspoon Methi Seeds
- Few Tamarind Pieces
- 2 Teaspoons Sesame Seeds
- 1 Tablespoon Oil
- 10 Green Chilies
- 150 Grams Dondakaya
- 1/4 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 Chopped Tomato
- 3 Garlic Pods
- Coriander Leaves
Ingredients (For Seasoning)
- 1 Tablespoon Oil
- 1/2 Teaspoon Jeera
- 1/2 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
- Few Dry Red Chilies
- Few Curry Leaves
Method
Step 1
Dry roast 1 tablespoon chana dal, 1 tablespoon urad dal, 1 teaspoon coriander seeds, 1/2 teaspoon jeera, 1/4 teaspoon methi seeds, few tamarind pieces, 2 teaspoons sesame seeds, and roast for 2 minutes.
Step 2
Heat 1 tablespoon oil and add 10 green chilies. Add 150 grams of chopped dondakaya, 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder, and mix well.
Step 3
Add 1 chopped tomato, 3 garlic pods, and mix well. Close the lid and cook for 3 minutes.
Step 4
Add coriander leaves and cook until the dondakaya is well done. Turn off the stove.
Step 5
Add dry roasted spices to the grinder and make a fine powder.
Step 6
Add dondakaya mixture to the grinder and add 1 teaspoon salt. Make a smooth paste.
Step 7
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil and add 1/2 teaspoon jeera, 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds, few dry red chilies, few curry leaves, and mix well.
Step 8
Add the seasoning to the dondakaya chutney.
