Chepala pulusu is a famous fish recipe prepared by cooking fresh fish pieces in tangy tamarind sauce with lots of hot spices. A lovely South Indian style fish curry that goes great with rice and any vegetable of your choice.
Ingredients
- 200 Grams Fish Pieces
- 3 Tablespoons Oil
- 1/4 Cup Tamarind
- 3 Teaspoons Jeera
- 1/4 Teaspoon Methi Seeds
- 1 Cup Chopped Onions
- 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 2 Teaspoons Red Chili Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Tablespoon Ginger Garlic Paste
Method
Step 1
Soak tamarind for 15 minutes.
Step 2
Dry roast 3 teaspoons of jeera for 30 seconds and add 1/2 teaspoon methi seeds. Roast it for 2 minutes and let it cool.
Step 3
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil and add 1 cup chopped onions. Sauté onions until golden brown and turn off the stove. Keep it aside and let it cool.
Step 4
Add dry roasted jeera-methi to the grinder and make a fine powder.
Step 5
Add fried onions to the grinder, add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 2 teaspoons red chili powder, 1 teaspoon salt, add jeera methi powder, and 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste, add soaked tamarind. Add little water and make a smooth paste.
Step 6
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil and add the masala paste. Fry the masala for 30 seconds and cook for 2 minutes.
Step 7
Add 1 cup water and mix well. Close the lid and cook for 3 minutes.
Step 8
Now add 200 grams of fish pieces and gently mix. Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes.
Step 9
Turn off the stove and serve hot with white rice.
