Gongura with chicken is a very popular and authentic dish of Andhra cuisine. Gongura chicken curry is a sour and hot curry which goes well with plain hot rice.
Ingredients
- 4 Cups Gongura
- Oil as Required
- 1 Kg Chicken
- 4 Green Chilies
- 1 Tomato
- Water as Required
- 1 Chopped Onion
- 1 Teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1/4 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 2 1/2 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
- Salt as per taste
- 1/4 Teaspoon Coriander Powder
Method
Step 1
Heat 1 teaspoon of oil and add 3 bowls of gongura. Add 1 small tomato and 4 green chilies.
Step 2
Add 1 more bowl of gongura and cook for 5 minutes. Add half a cup of water and cook until gongura is well done. Mash the gongura and keep it aside.
Step 3
Add 2 teaspoons of oil, add 1/2 cup chopped onions and fry until golden brown.
Step 4
Add 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste, add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, add 1 kg chicken.
Step 5
Add 2 1/2 teaspoons chili powder, add 1 teaspoon salt, and mix well. Close the lid and cook for 3 minutes.
Step 6
Add 1 cup of water and cook until the chicken is well done. Add gongura paste and mix it well.
Step 7
Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes, mix it well, and turn off the stove.
