Windhu Special Chicken is a village style curry. Making masala fresh will give a unique taste to the chicken. Serve with rice or roti.
Ingredients (For Masala Paste)
- 1/2 Teaspoon Jeera
- 1/2 Teaspoon Peppercorns
- 1 Teaspoon Poppy Seeds
- 5-6 Cloves
- 2 Sticks Cinnamon
- 5 Cardamoms
- 4 Dry Red Chilies
- 1 Teaspoon Coriander Seeds
- 4 Cloves Garlic
- Small Ginger Piece
Ingredients (For Curry)
- 200 Grams Chicken
- 2 Tablespoons Oil
- 1/2 Teaspoon Shah Jeera
- 1 Cup Onion
- 1/2 Cup Methi Leaves
- 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Chili Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- Coriander Leaves
Method
Step 1
In a bowl, 1/2 teaspoon Jeera, 1/2 teaspoon peppercorns, 1 teaspoon poppy seeds, 5-6 cloves, 2 sticks cinnamon, 5 cardamoms, 4 dry red chilies & soak them overnight.
Step 2
Add 1 teaspoon coriander seeds.
Step 3
Crush 4 cloves garlic, small ginger piece and add them to the bowl.
Step 4
Crush all the soaked spices and make a fine paste. Keep it aside.
Step 5
In a cooking pan, heat 2 tablespoons oil and add 1/2 teaspoon shah Jeera, 1 cup chopped onions & fry until golden brown.
Step 6
Add 1/2 cup methi leaves and fry for 1 minute.
Step 7
Add the ground masala paste and fry for 5 minutes.
Step 8
Add the 200 Grams Chicken and mix well.
Step 9
Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon chili powder, 1 teaspoon salt & mix it well. Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes.
Step 10
Add 1 cup water, mix well & close the lid and cook until chicken is cooked.
Step 11
Add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
Step 12
Once the gravy is thick, turn off the stove.
