Gujarati Methi Thepla, a must-try lightly spiced paratha like Indian flatbread, is prepared from wheat flour, fenugreek leaves, and other spices. This is a healthy diabetic snack. Fenugreek leaves improve insulin and glucose. The wheat flour adds in some amount of fiber.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Wheat Flour
- 2 Tablespoons Gram Flour
- 1/4 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 Teaspoon Grated Ginger
- 1/4 Teaspoon Green Chili Paste
- 1/2 Cup Fresh Methi Leaves
Method
Step 1
In a bowl, add 1 cup wheat flour, 2 tablespoons gram flour, 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon grated ginger, 1/4 teaspoon green chili paste, 1/2 cup fresh methi leaves, and mix well.
Step 2
Add water and make a smooth dough. Add little oil and knead well. Keep it aside for 15 minutes.
Step 3
Take a small portion of the dough and apply some dry wheat flour. Roll them into a thin chapati.
Step 4
Heat the griddle and add the thepla and cook for 1 minute.
Step 5
Slowly turn the thepla to the other side, apply little oil and cook for 1 minute.
Step 6
Cook well on both sides and take it out. Serve hot.
