Gutti Dondakaya Vepudu (Barwa Tindora) is an Andhra Style stuffed Tindora. The Stuffing is made from freshly roasted and ground spices making the dish absolutely delicious. Serve it along with Rasam and hot steamed rice.
Ingredients
- 200 Grams Dondakaya
- 2 Teaspoons Chana Dal
- 2 Teaspoons Urad Dal
- 2 Teaspoons Coriander Seeds
- 1 Teaspoon Jeera
- 2 Teaspoons Sesame Seeds
- 10 -12 Dry Red Chilies
- 2 Teaspoons Coconut Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 2 Tablespoons Oil
- 1/2 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
- Few Curry Leaves
Method
Step 1
Dry roast 2 teaspoon chana dal, 2 teaspoon urad dal, 2 teaspoons coriander seeds, 1 teaspoon jeera, 2 teaspoons sesame seeds, 10 - 12 dry red chilies. Roast it for 2 minutes.
Step 2
Add 2 teaspoons coconut powder and roast it for 1 minute. Let it cool
Step 3
Add the spice to the grinder and add 1 teaspoon salt. Make a fine powder.
Step 4
Cut the ends of dondakaya and slit the dondakaya vertically into 4.
Step 5
Fill the dondakaya with spicy masala powder and keep them aside.
Step 6
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil and add 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds, few curry leaves.
Step 7
Add stuffed dondakaya and cook on a medium flame for 3 minutes.
Step 8
Slowly mix once and add the rest of the spicy powder. Cook on a slow flame until dondakaya is well done.
Step 9
Mix well and turn off the stove.
