This healthy, homey dal made with moong dal with beet leaves, and it is very flavorful. This is very easy and quick to make. This vegan mixed dal is a nutritious and delicious recipe perfect for those busy weeknight dinners. Pair it with roti or rice.
Ingredients (For Dal)
- 1 Teaspoon Jeera
- 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
- 3 Bunches Beetroot Greens
- 3 Green Chilies
- 1/4 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 Cup Moong Dal
- 2 Teaspoons Red Chili Powder
- 2 Teaspoon Salt
- 2 Cups Water
Ingredients (For Seasoning)
- 2 Tablespoons Oil
- 3 Chopped Garlic
- 1 Teaspoon Jeera
- 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
- Pinch of Hing
- Dry Red Chilies
- 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- Few Curry Leaves
Method
Step 1
Heat 1 tablespoon oil and add 1 teaspoon jeera, 1 teaspoon mustard seeds, 3 bunches of beetroot greens, 3 green chilies, and mix well.
Step 2
Add 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder and mix well. Once the water evaporates, add 1 cup of moong dal.
Step 3
Add 2 teaspoons red chili powder, 2 teaspoon salt, and mix well.
Step 4
Add 2 cups of water and pressure cook it up to 2 whistles. Once the pressure releases, remove the whistles and take out the lid.
Step 5
Mix and add 1 cup of water. Mix well and cook on low heat for 5 minutes.
Step 6
Heat 2 tablespoons oil and add 3 chopped garlic, 1 teaspoon jeera, 1 teaspoon mustard seeds, a pinch of hing, dry red chilies, 12 teaspoon turmeric powder, few curry leaves.
Step 7
Add the seasoning to the dal. Serve hot with rice or roti.
