The Hyderabadi Double Ka Meetha is a traditional Hyderabadi dessert prepared with bread. This Indian version of bread pudding showcases the deliciousness of bread when it absorbs the richness of milk and cream and is flavored with dry fruits.
Ingredients
- 6 Bread Slices
- 2 Cups Milk
- 2 Cups Sugar
- Ghee as required
- 1/4 Cup Almonds
- 1/4 Cup Cashews
- 1/4 Cup Pistachios
- 1/4 Cup Raisins
- 1 Cup water
- Few Strands Saffron
- 1/2 Teaspoon Cardamom Powder
Method
Step 1
Heat 1 tablespoon ghee and fry chopped almonds, fry a few cashews, fry a few raisins, and keep it aside.
Step 2
Heat ghee in Kadai, fry 12 slices of bread until brown and take it aside.
Step 3
Add 2 cups of hot milk to the fried bread.
Step 4
Add 2 cups sugar and 1 cup of water. Mix until all the sugar dissolves.
Step 5
Boil the sugar for 5 minutes and add 2 pinches of saffron.
Step 6
Add the soaked bread to the sugar syrup.
Step 7
Mix well and cook until all the sugar observes, add 1/2 teaspoon elachi powder
Step 8
Add fried dry fruits and mix well. Take out and serve warm.
