Kakarikaya Chana dal is a delicious curry made with bitter melon. Fresh spices, onions, and coconut add a lot of flavors. Goes well with chapatti or plain rice.
Ingredients
- 3-4 Karela
- 4 Medium Onions Chopped
- 2 Tablespoons Soaked Channa Dal
- Salt as per taste
- 3 Green Chilies
- 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 2 Teaspoons Chili Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1/2 Cup Tamarind Juice
- Little Jaggery
- 2 Teaspoons Coconut Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Coriander Powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Garam Masala
- Coriander Leaves
Method
Step 1
Peel the kakaraya skin and cut into pieces, add 1/2 turmeric powder, salt as per taste, and mix well, keep It aside for 15 minutes.
Step 2
After 15 minutes, mix again and squeeze out the water.
Step 3
Fry the karela until crisp and take them into a bowl.
Step 4
Add 4 medium chopped onions and salt as per taste.
Step 5
Add 2 tablespoons soaked chana dal, 3 green chilies, and mix well.
Step 6
Close the lid and cook for 10 minutes.
Step 7
Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, 2 teaspoon chili powder, and mix well.
Step 8
Add 1 teaspoon red chili paste and mix well, close the lid and cook for 10 minutes.
Step 9
Add 1/4 cup tamarind water, add fried karela, and mix well.
Step 10
Add jaggery, 2 teaspoon coconut powder, 1 teaspoon coriander powder, 1/2 teaspoon garam masala, add coriander and mix well.
Step 11
Turn off the stove and enjoy it.
