Bitter Gourd powder or Kakarakaya Karam is an amazing dish spiced with all possible tastes from bitterness, tanginess, and spiciness, making this dish enticing and addictive. The simplest of ingredients bring about the splendid mix of flavors and texture that give a crunch and crispy taste.
Ingredients
- 4 Karela
- 1 Tablespoon Chana Dal
- 1 Tablespoon Urad Dal
- 15 Dry Red Chilies
- 7-8 Garlic Cloves
- Few Curry Leaves
- 1/3 Cup Tamarind
- 1 Teaspoon Jeera
Method
Step 1
Dry roast 1 tablespoon chana dal, 1 tablespoon urad dal, 15 dry red chilies, 7-8 garlic cloves, few curry leaves, 1/3 cup tamarind, 1 teaspoon jeera, and dry roast for 2-3 minutes. Keep them aside.
Step 2
Cut the karela into thin slices and take out the seeds.
Step 3
Heat 4 tablespoon oil and add the karela. Fry the karela until crispy. Take them out and keep them aside.
Step 4
Add dry roasted spices to the grinder and grind it coarsely. Now add crispy karela and grind it coarsely.
Step 5
Take it to the bowl and serve it with idli, dose, or plain rice with ghee.
