Kanafeh is a traditional Middle Eastern dessert made with thin noodle-like pastry, sugar-based syrup, and layered with cheese sprinkled with crushed pistachios or walnuts. Crispy on the outside and melting on the inside, this delicate dessert is a real treat.
Ingredients
- 1/2 Cup Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Water
- 1 Tablespoon Rose Water
- Orange zest
- 250 Grams Pheni
- 1/4 Cup Butter
- Ricotta Cheese
- 1/2 Cup Shredded & Mozzarella Cheese
- Pistachios Powder
Method
Step 1
Add 1/2 cup sugar in a pot, add 1/2 cup water, 1 tablespoon rose water, orange zest, and mix until sugar melts.
Step 2
When sugar becomes pouring consistently turn off the stove. Keep it aside.
Step 3
Take 250 grams pheni and crush them with your hand.
Step 4
Add 1/4 cup butter to the pheni and mix well
Step 5
Grease the pan with butter. Place the first layer of pheni in the pan.
Step 6
With the help of a small bowl press the pheni and set it.
Step 7
Add some sugar syrup to the pheni and layer with ricotta cheese. Spread evenly.
Step 8
Add 1/2 cup shredded cheese and mozzarella cheese.
Step 9
Now top with the final layer of pheni.
Step 10
Place it on the stove and cook for 5 minutes on medium heat. Add sugar syrup.

Step 12
Add some more butter and place the pheni carefully to cook another side.
Step 13
Add the rest of the sugar syrup. Cook for 5 minutes and take it on a thick plate.
