Masala Karela with onion masala is a unique Indian dish with such exquisite flavor that it will make even bitter karela taste like heaven.
Ingredients
- 4 Karela
- 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
- 2 Teaspoons Sesame Seeds
- Dry Coconut
- 2 Teaspoons Coriander Seeds (Dhania)
- 1 Teaspoon Fenugreek Seeds (Methi)
- 2 Tablespoons Chili Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 1/2 Teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
- Salt as per Taste
- 1 Cup Fried Onions
- 1 Cup Soaked Tamarind
- Jaggery
- 1/2 Teaspoon Garam Masala
Method
Step 1
In a pan, add 1 teaspoon jeera, 1 teaspoon Fenugreek, 2 teaspoons dhaniya, 2 teaspoon sesame seeds, add some dry coconut, and roast for 2 minutes.
Step 2
Add the roasted ingredients to the grinder and make a fine powder.
Step 3
Add 1/2 teaspoon Garam Masala to the powder, add 1 cup fried onions, add 1 cup soaked tamarind, add 2 tablespoon chili powder, add 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, add salt as per taste, add 1 1/2 ginger garlic paste, jaggery, add little water and grind into a fine paste.
Step 4
Heat 3 tablespoons oil in a pan, add Karela & Stir it, close the lid and cook for 2 minutes.
Step 5
Open the cover and add the ground paste and mix it well. Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes. Open the lid and mix it well.
