Dal Makhani is a classic Indian dish made with whole urad dal, rajma, butter, and spices. It is one of the most popular lentil dishes that originated in the Punjab region of India.
Ingredients (For Boiling Dal)
- 1 Cup Whole Urad Dal
- 1/4 Cup Rajma
- 1/4 Cup Chana Dal
- 1 Tablespoon Butter
- 3 Cup Water
- 2 Garlic Cloves
- 2 Green Chilies
Ingredients (For Masala)
- 1 Teaspoon Butter
- 1 Onion
- 1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 2 Teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
- 2 Tomatoes
- 2 Teaspoons Chili Powder
- 2 Teaspoons Coriander Powder
- 2 Teaspoons Jeera Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Fennel powder
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Teaspoon Kasuri Methi
- 2 Tablespoon Cream
Ingredients (For Seasoning)
- 3 Tablespoons Butter
- 1 Tablespoon Chopped Garlic
- Hing
- 2 Green Chilies
Method
Step 1
Take 1 cup whole urad dal, 1/4 cup rajma, ¼ cup chana dal, 4 cups water, and soak it overnight.
Step 2
In a pressure cooker, add 1 teaspoon butter, soaked dals, add 3 cups water, 2 garlic cloves, 2 green chilies, and pressure cook up to 5 whistles.
Step 3
Mashed the cooked dal and keep it aside.
Step 4
Add 1 teaspoon butter, add 1 chopped onion, sauté onions until slightly brown.
Step 5
Add 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, 2 teaspoons ginger garlic paste, add 2 chopped tomatoes, 2 teaspoons red chili powder, coriander powder, Jeera powder, fennel powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and sauté it well.
Step 6
Add 1 cup water (adjust the consistency).
Step 7
Add 1 teaspoon Kasuri methi, 2 tablespoon cream, mix well and turn off the stove.
Step 8
Take the dal into a bowl.
Step 9
In steel rounded scoop, add 1 teaspoon butter, add chopped garlic, sauté it, and 2 green chilies.
Step 10
Add the thadka to the bowl.
