Aloo Matar recipe is simple yet delicious Punjabi-style peas and potato curry. It is a vegetarian dish. The sauce is generally cooked with garlic, ginger, onion, tomatoes, cilantro, cumin seeds, and other spices.
Ingredients
- 1 Chopped Onion
- 1 Chopped Tomato
- 2 Green Chilies
- 2 Tablespoons Oil
- 1/2 Teaspoon Shah Jeera
- 1 Teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Cup Peas
- 2 Potatoes
- 1/2 Teaspoon Coriander Powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Jeera Powder
- 1/4 Teaspoon Garam Masala
- 1 Teaspoon Kasuri Methi
- Chopped Coriander Leaves
Method
Step 1
Add 1 chopped onion, 2 green chilies to the grinder and make a smooth paste.
Step 2
Add 1 chopped tomato and make a smooth purée.
Step 3
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil and add 1/2 teaspoon shah jeera. Add onion paste and sauté well for 2 minutes.
Step 4
Add 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, and mix well.
Step 5
Add tomato purée and mix well for a minute. Add 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and mix well.
Step 6
Add 1 cup peas, 2 chopped potatoes, and mix well. Add 1 cup water and cook for 2 minutes.
Step 7
Mix well and cook until potatoes are well. Add 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder, 1/2 teaspoon jeera powder, 1/4 teaspoon garam masala, and mix well.
Step 8
Add little water if required and cook for a minute.
Step 9
Add 1 teaspoon Kasuri methi, chopped coriander leaves, and mix well. Turn off the stove.
