Saag paneer is a classic Indian dish of cooked spinach and sarson ka saag with cubes of fried paneer cheese. Thickened with cream or coconut milk, it’s a hearty and filling vegetarian meal.
Ingredients
- 1 Bunch Saag (Sarson Ka Saag)
- 1 Bunch Spinach
- 2 Pieces Garlic Cloves
- 2 Pieces Ginger
- 2 Green Chilies
- 2 Tablespoons Ghee
- 1 Teaspoon Jeera
- 1 Tablespoon Chopped Ginger
- 1/2 Cup Chopped Onion
- 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 2 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
- Salt as per taste
- 1/2 Teaspoon Garam Masala
- 1 Teaspoon Jeera Powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Fennel Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Corn Meal
- Paneer Cubes
- 1 Teaspoon Kasuri Methi
- 1 Teaspoon Cream
Method
Step 1
Boil 4 cups of water and add 1 teaspoon salt.
Step 2
Add 2 cloves garlic, 2 pieces ginger, 2 green chilies, 1 bunch chopped saag, 1 bunch chopped spinach, and blanch for 10 minutes.
Step 3
Take it to the jar and grind it into a fine paste. Keep the water aside.
Step 4
Heat 2 tablespoons ghee, add 1 teaspoon jeera, 1 tablespoon ginger, and sauté well.
Step 5
Add 1/2 cup chopped onions and sauté until light golden brown.
Step 6
Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 2 teaspoons chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon garam masala, 1 teaspoon jeera powder, 1 teaspoon fennel powder, and mix all the masala well.
Step 7
Now add the saag paste. Mix well and cook for 10 minutes.
Step 8
Add 1 tablespoon cornmeal and mix well.
Step 9
Add saag blanched water and cook for another 5 minutes.
Step 10
Add 1 teaspoon butter and mix well.
Step 11
Add paneer cubes and mix well.
Step 12
Now add 1 teaspoon Kasuri methi, 1 teaspoon cream, and mix well. Turn off the stove.
Step 13
Serve with Naan or Roti.
