Sooji ka halwa or Sheera is a quick, easy, and delicious pudding often made in most Indian homes. Sheera is often made for an auspicious occasion or a pooja. This everyday Indian sweet can be made in about 15 minutes.
Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoons Ghee
- 1 Tablespoon Cashews
- 1 Tablespoon Raisins
- 1 Cup Sooji
- 2 Cups Water
- 1/2 Cup Milk
- 1 1/4 Cup Sugar
- 1/2 Teaspoon Cardamom Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Saffron Milk
Method
Step 1
Heat 1 tablespoon ghee and add 1 tablespoon cashews, 1 tablespoon raisins. Sauté for 1 minute and take them out. Keep them aside.
Step 2
Heat 1 tablespoon ghee and add 1 cup sooji. Fry the sooji on medium flame until aromatic and take it out. Keep it aside.
Step 3
Boil 2 cups water and 1/2 cup milk in a pot. Add 1 teaspoon ghee and mix well.
Step 4
Add roasted sooji slowly in boiling water. Mix continuously.
Step 5
Add 1 1/4 cup sugar and mix well. Add 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder, 1 tablespoon saffron milk, and mix well.
Step 6
Add fried nuts and mix well. Cook for 1 minute and turn off the stove.
