Sorakaya Pulusu Recipe or Bottle Gourd Curry Andhra Style is a delicious tamarind based gravy prepared with bottle gourd, the curry has a little sweet and tangy taste. Goes with steamed white rice.
- 1 Medium Sorakaya
- 1 Tablespoon Oil
- 1 Cup Sliced Onion
- 3 Chopped Green Chilies
- 1 Teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 Cup Chopped Tomatoes
- 1 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
- 3/4 Teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 Cup Tamarind Water
- 1/2 Teaspoon Sugar
- 1/2 Teaspoon Coriander Powder
- Coriander Leaves
Peel the skin of sorakaya and cut it into pieces. Keep it aside.
Heat 1 tablespoon oil, add 1 cup sliced onion, and 3 chopped green chilies.
Sauté onions until lightly golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste and turmeric powder.
Add 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes and cook until tomatoes are soft.
Add sorakaya pieces and mix well. Close the lid and cook for 2 minutes.
Add 1 teaspoon red chili powder, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and add 1/2 cup water. Close the lid and cook for 1 minute.
Add 1/2 cup tamarind water, 1/2 teaspoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder, and cook for 1 minute.
Add coriander leaves and turn off the stove.
